A 26 year old Newnham man has been charged with multiple firearm and drug offences following a planned police operation in Kings Meadows this afternoon.
Police allege that man was responsible for a loaded pistol they located in a vehicle that he fled from shortly before being arrested.
The man was charged with possessing a firearm in contravention of a firearms prohibition notice, and possessing a loaded firearm in a public place.
He was remanded to appear in the Launceston Magistrates Court at 11am tomorrow.
