Man Charged With High Range DUI, Traffic Offenses

Police have charged a 24-year-old Beaconsfield man with evading police, high range drink driving, and other traffic offences after he was intercepted in Beaconsfield over the weekend.

About 5.00pm on Sunday, Beaconsfield Police attempted to intercept the man riding an unregistered trail bike without wearing a helmet on Weld Street, Beaconsfield.

The man evaded police but was located a short time later where he returned a breath alcohol reading of 0.189 grams of alcohol.

He was immediately disqualified from driving for two years, and his motorcycle was confiscated for an indefinite period of time.

The man will appear in the Launceston Magistrates Court at a later date.
