Man Charged With Property, Firearm Offenses Near Wollongong

A man will face court today charged with property related offences in the Illawarra.

About 2.20pm on Wednesday 12 February 2025, police were notified of an alleged break and enter at a business on Auburn Street, Coniston around 4.30am.

Officers attached to Wollongong Police District responded and were told two electric motorcycles – with a combined estimated value of $29,000 – were allegedly stolen.

Following inquiries, about 3.15pm yesterday (Thursday 13 February 2025), officers attached to Wollongong Police District's Proactive Crime, executed a search warrant at a home on Waples Road, Farmborough Heights.

Police seized five motorcycles, tools, prohibited drugs, identification cards, a doctor's prescription pad and two mobile phones.

A 35-year-old man was arrested at the scene.

He was taken to Wollongong Police Station and charged with three counts of receive property-theft=serious indictable offence > $5000, four counts of goods suspected stolen in/on premises (not m/v), possess ammunition without holding licence/permit/authority and firearm etc found at premises-subject to prohibition order.

He was refused bail to appear before Wollongong Local Court today (Friday 14 February 2025).

A second man, aged 35, was arrested nearby the home on Waples Road following a short foot pursuit and taken to Wollongong Police Station, and released without charge.

Investigations are continuing.
