A man has been charged with major trafficking and multiple firearms-related offences after police seized two stolen shotguns during a targeted search at Invermay yesterday.
Members of Northern Drugs and Firearms Unit, as well as specialist police resources, executed the search warrant at a residential address on Tuesday 7 January.
During the search police seized two stolen shotguns - one shortened, ammunition, a number of fraudulent Tasmanian licences, and a quantity of cash believed to be proceeds of crime.
A 45-year-old Mole Creek man was arrested at the scene, and has since been charged with multiple firearms-related offences including possession of stolen firearms, possession of a shortened firearm and possessing a firearm when not the holder of a firearm licence of the appropriate category, as well as unlawful possession of property and breach of bail.
The man has also been charged with trafficking in a controlled substance in relation to a search at Newstead in January 2024, where police seized a quantity of methylamphetamine.
He was detained to appear in the Launceston Magistrates Court today.
