Major Collision Investigation Unit detectives are investigating a two-vehicle collision in Craigieburn this afternoon.
It is believed the driver of a sedan was travelling along the Hume Highway when they collided with a truck at about 4pm.
The sedan then crashed into a pole.
The male driver of the sedan sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to hospital for treatment.
His male passenger sustained life-threatening injuries and was taken to hospital for treatment.
The male truck driver was not injured and has been spoken to by police.
The exact circumstances surrounding collision are yet to be determined and investigations remain ongoing.
The southbound lane between Rushwood Drive and Patullos Lane will be closed for some time.
