Man Died After Public Place Shooting - Surry Hills

A man has died after a public place shooting in Sydney's inner city today.

About 7.45pm on Friday (22 November 2024), emergency services were called to Baptist Street Surry Hills, near Cleveland Street, following reports of shots fired.

On arrival, officers attached to South Sydney Police Area Command found a man – believed to be in his 30s – had suffered a gunshot wound.

He was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics however, he died at the scene.

A short time later, emergency services were called to Kensington Road, Kensington, following reports of a car fire.

On arrival, officers attached to Eastern Beaches Police Area Command located a Porsche well alight.

Initial inquires alleged the two incidents are linked.

A crime scene has been established and detectives from South Sydney Police Area Command, with the assistance from State Crime Command's Homicide Squad commenced an investigation into the incident.

A report will be prepared for the information of the Coroner.
