Bendigo Crime Investigation Unit detectives have charged a man after a man was located seriously injured in Golden Square on 2 January.
Emergency services were initially called about 10am to a hotel on High Street.
A 34-year-old man of no fixed place of address was found and treated by paramedics before being taken to hospital.
He sadly died in hospital on Wednesday 15 January.
A 33-year-old Swan Hill man was arrested in the Bendigo CBD shortly after the incident.
He was charged with intentionally cause serious injury and remanded to appear at Bendigo Magistrates' Court on 2 April.
Detectives will now review the initial charges.
