Man Dies After Assault, One Charged At Kyogle

A man has died after being allegedly assaulted in the state's north yesterday.

About 11am yesterday (Monday 14 April 2025), emergency services were called to a home on Irwin Street, Kyogle, following reports a man was injured.

Officers attached to Richmond Police District arrived to find that a 49-year-old man was unconscious with assault injuries.

He was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics; however, he died at the scene.

Police immediately commenced Strike Force Alonnah to investigate the man's death.

Following inquiries, strike force officers arrested a 56-year-old man on Highfield Road, Kyogle, about 4.30pm the same day.

He was taken to Casino Police Station where he was charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm and affray.

Police will allege in court the 56-year-old assaulted the 49-year-old on Sunday 13 April 2025 following a verbal altercation.

The man refused bail to appear before Casino Local Court today (Tuesday 14 April 2025).
