Sadly, a man has died following an excavator rollover on a rail line adjacent to Evandale Road, Evandale.
Police and emergency services were called to the scene about 10.40am this morning.
Upon police arrival, a man was located trapped by an excavator. He sadly died at the scene.
Our thoughts are with the man's family and loved ones at this difficult time.
Another man received non life threatening injuries in the incident and was taken to the Launceston General Hospital as a precaution.
Work Safe Tasmania is investigating the incident and a report will be prepared for the Coroner.
Roadblocks remain in place at Evandale Road and Mill Road and at Leighlands Road.
Motorists are advised to avoid the immediate area to facilitate the safe movement of emergency service vehicles.
