Man Dies After Fire On Property Near Gunnedah

A man has died in hospital following a fire on a property near Gunnedah yesterday.

About 4.20pm (Saturday 14 December 2024), emergency services were called to a property on McEvoys Road, Goolh – about 30km west of Gunnedah – following reports a paddock had caught fire.

A man – who was operating machinery on the paddock at the time – was injured and treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics before he was airlifted to Royal North Shore Hospital suffering burns to his body.

Officers from Orana Mid Western Police District attended and established a crime scene.

The 39-year-old man died in hospital today (Sunday 15 December 2024).

Inquiries into the circumstances surrounding the fire and the man's death are underway.

A report will be prepared for the Coroner and the incident has been referred to SafeWork NSW.
