Man Dies After House Fire - North Coast

A man has died following a house fire on the North Coast last night.

Emergency services were called to the home on Wallace Road at Terania Creek, near Ballina, about 8.45pm (Saturday 3 August 2024), and found the building well-alight.

Officers from NSW Rural Fire Service extinguished the fire.

During a sweep of the building, officers located the body of a man, believed to be aged in his 70s. He is yet to be formally identified.

A crime scene was established by officers from Richmond Police District, which will be examined by specialist police.

The cause and origin of the fire remains unknown.

Police will prepare a report for the information of the Coroner.
