Man dies after single vehicle crash north of Albury

A man has died following a single-vehicle crash in the state's south.

About 5.30am today (Tuesday 9 June 2020), police were called to Walla Walla Road, Walla Walla, about 40km north of Albury, following reports a Mitsubishi Mirage had crashed into a tree and through a fence.

The driver and sole occupant died at the scene.

While the body is yet to be formally identified, it is believed to be that of a 46-year-old man from Walla Walla.

Officers from Murray River Police District established a crime scene and commenced inquiries into the circumstances surrounding the crash.

A report will be prepared for the information of the Coroner.
