Police will prepare a report for the coroner after a fatal collision in Maryvale on Friday, 29 March.
Investigators have been told a man and his dog had just exited a vehicle on Derhams Lane when they struck by a car about 7.40pm.
The 76-year-old Morwell man died on his way to hospital with life-threatening injuries and his dog died at the scene.
The driver of the car stopped at the scene and has spoken with police.
The exact circumstances surrounding the collision are yet to be determined and investigations remain ongoing.
