Man Expected To Be Charged After Diamond Creek Fire

A man is expected to be charged after officers were called to reports of a fire in Diamond Creek on Monday.

Diamond Creek police swiftly arrived at the Edmonds Street property to find a recently extinguished fire about 6.40pm.

It is believed that a man had deliberately lit a fire with the intention of burning off branches, cut from trees on the property.

Police were alarmed by the fact that the incident had occurred during a fire danger period in effect for the local Nillumbik Shire Council.

A 29-year-old Diamond Creek man was interviewed and is expected to be charged on summons with light fire during danger period (not total fire ban).
