Bayside Sexual Offences and Child Abuse Exploitation detectives have laid historical sexual offence charges against a man located in the United States earlier this year.
The 59-year-old man was arrested in New York on 19 April following an extensive investigation.
He was extradited back to Australia yesterday and faced Melbourne Magistrates' Court this morning charged with three counts of indecent assault and one count of sexual penetration of a child over 12 and under 16.
The charges relate to alleged incidents that occurred at St Kilda East in the 1980s.
The man has been bailed on strict conditions to face Melbourne Magistrates' Court again on 15 September.
