Man Hides In Bin After Pursuit - Zetland

A man – who was allegedly found hiding in a bin to avoid arrest – is due in court charged after a pursuit at Zetland overnight.

About 9.15pm yesterday (Friday 20 December 2024), officers attached to Highway and Traffic Patrol Command were conducting a planned traffic operation on Dacey Avenue, Moore Park.

During the operation, police directed the driver of a sedan to stop for a random breath test.

When the driver allegedly failed to stop as directed by police, a pursuit was initiated.

The pursuit continued until the sedan stopped on Epsom Road, Zetland, and the driver allegedly ran away.

Police arrested the 20-year-old man after finding him allegedly hiding in a garbage bin in a building nearby.

He was taken to Mascot Police Station where he was charged with four offences,

• Police pursuit – not stop – drive recklessly

• Fail to comply with request or signal to stop vehicle

• Drive motor vehicle during disqualification period, and

• Exceed speed more than 45km/h.

The man was refused bail to appear before Parramatta Local Court today (Saturday 21 December 2024).
