A man is expected to be flown to the Royal Adelaide Hospital with life-threatening injuries after allegedly being assaulted in the Riverland on the weekend.
It will be alleged the man was assaulted during an altercation in the grounds of a Paringa accommodation facility just after midnight on Sunday 2 August by a man known to him.
The 29-year-old man did not go to work on Monday and was found unresponsive in his cabin last night.
Police and paramedics were called and the man was taken to the Berri Hospital with serious injuries. He is expected to be airlifted to the Royal Adelaide Hospital this morning.
Riverland CIB detectives commenced and investigation and arrested a 25-year-old man over the assault. He has been charged with assault cause serious harm.
He was refused police bail and is expected to appear in the Berri Magistrates Court today.
The investigation is continuing. Detectives believe numerous people witnessed the incident on Saturday night/Sunday morning and urge anyone with information to come forward. Investigators would like to speak with anyone who saw the injured man at any time after the assault.
