A man is under police guard in hospital after the body of a man was located in Villawood this afternoon, NSW Police say.
About 5.35pm (Thursday 3 May 2018), emergency services were called to a unit on Gundaroo Street, near the intersection of Kungala Street, after reports of an assault.
The body of a 41-year-old man was located in the unit.
Another man, aged 31, was arrested in a nearby street.
He has been taken to hospital where he remains sedated under police guard.
A crime scene has been established at the address which will be examined by forensic specialists.
Police from Bankstown Police Area Command are conducting inquiries into the incident.
Inquiries suggest the two men are known to each other, but not related.
Police are urging anyone with information in relation to this incident to call Crime Stoppers.
