Man injured during attempted armed robbery in Griffith

A man has been injured following an attempted armed robbery in Griffith overnight, NSW Police say.

Shortly after 6pm today, a 27-year-old man was walking along Binya Street, Griffith, when he was approached by another man.

The man allegedly produced a knife and threatened him, demanding his wallet.

Following a struggle, the 27-year-old man sustained a laceration to his finger.

The armed man fled the scene empty handed and was last seen running west towards Burrell Place.

Officers from Griffith Local Area Command were notified and commenced investigations.

Police would like to speak to a man, who may be able to assist with inquiries.

He is described as being of Mediterranean/Middle Eastern appearance, approximately 165cm tall, aged in his 20s, with a dark coloured full beard. He was last seen wearing a yellow hooded jumper and dark coloured long pants.

Anyone who was in the area at the time of the incident is urged to contact Police via Crime Stoppers.
