Man Rescued After Search Operation At Heathcote

A man reported missing has been found safe following a search operation in Sydney's south.

The 83-year-old man was last seen leaving a home in Heathcote, about 1.48pm yesterday (Friday 11 April 2025).

When he could not be located, officers attached to Sutherland Shire Police Area Command commenced inquiries into his whereabouts.

Following an extensive search operation with assistance from PolAir, the Rescue and Bomb Disposal Unit, NSW Ambulance, NSW Rural Fire Service and State Emergency Service, the man was located this morning by search crews on the Kangaroo Creek Track in the Royal National Park.

He was assessed by NSW Ambulance paramedics before he was winched from the track and flown out by PolAir, before he was taken by ambulance to Sutherland Hospital as a precaution.

Police would like to thank all involved, including the public and media for their assistance.
