Man Seriously Burned in Albury, Police Charge Suspect

Charges have been laid after a man was found with life-threatening burns in the state's south.

About 5.30am on Sunday 7 January 2023, NSW Ambulance paramedics responded to reports a man had suffered burns at a home on Russell Street, Howlong, about 30km northwest of Albury.

The 23-year-old man was taken to Albury Base Hospital before being airlifted to Prince Alfred Hospital in Melbourne, where he remains in an induced coma.

Detectives attached to Murray River Police District commenced an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Following extensive inquiries, a 22-year-old woman was arrested on the Riverina Highway, Howlong, as she travelled toward Albury in a motor vehicle.

She was taken to Albury Police Station and charged with burn/?maim etc. by using corrosive fluid etc. and released on conditional bail to appear at Albury Local Court on Wednesday 21 February 2024.
