A man has been seriously injured in a helicopter crash in the state's north today.
Just after 9am (Thursday 26 May 2022), emergency services attended a property on the Newell Highway, Bellata – about 45kn north of Narrabri – following reports of a helicopter crash.
Police were told a man and woman were pig hunting in the helicopter before it clipped a powerline and crashed.
The female pilot – aged 32 – was treated on scene and was taken to Moree Hospital with minor injuries.
The passenger – a man aged 50 – was treated on scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics and airlifted to John Hunter Hospital with serious injuries.
Officers attached to Oxley Police District attended and have commenced and investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
