A man wanted on an arrest warrant for an alleged murder in Queensland 27 years ago, has been arrested in Dural.
Officers attached to Kuring-Gai Police Area Command arrested a 72-year-old man at a property on Kenthurst Road about 8am yesterday (Thursday 2 January 2025), by virtue of an outstanding Queensland Police arrest warrant.
The warrant was issued in July 2023 in relation to an alleged murder in 1997 on the Sunshine Coast.
The man was taken to Hornsby Police Station where he was charged with the warrant, as well as assault police officer in execution of duty without aggravated bodily harm, deal with identity information to commit etc indictable offence, and possess identity information to commit etc indictable offence.
Police will allege in court the man attempted to bite an officer while he was in custody.
He was refused bail to appear at Parramatta Local Court today (Friday 3 January 2025).
It is understood the Queensland Police Service will apply for his extradition.
