Managing Twilight Years Returns

Horsham's 'Managing the Twilight Years' event is back for another year, offering insights and support for residents navigating the complexities of aging.

Set to take place on Thursday, May 15, from 9.30am to 3pm at the Horsham Church of Christ (91 River Road, Horsham), the event is aimed at people aged 55 and over.

With an entry fee of $5, topics include legal considerations, financial planning for aged care, personal safety, health programs and mobility support.

Morning tea and lunch will be provided, thanks to the generous sponsorship of Oscar Care Horsham and Horsham Rural City Council.

An Event Packed with Expert Advice

The event will feature presentations from a lawyer, a financial aged-care specialist, a police officer, and a Grampians Health representative, among others. The sessions will address some of the unexpected and overwhelming challenges older people often face, including housing transitions, legal documentation, funeral planning, and Powers of Attorney.

In addition to speaker sessions, there will be foyer displays from various local groups and service providers, offering additional resources and networking opportunities.

Why Attend?

After the success of the inaugural event in 2023, where an audience of 180 attendees requested even more topics to be covered, the Horsham Combined Probus organisers are eager to build on that momentum.

"We feel the topics covered will have inestimable value to those who attend," organiser Faye Smith said.

"It's not just about information—it's also a fantastic social occasion, bringing people together from across the Wimmera and Southern Mallee while showcasing the many local organisations dedicated to supporting older residents," she said.

With ample parking, a spacious foyer, and accessibility for people with disabilities, the venue is well-equipped to accommodate attendees comfortably.
