Manslaughter charge, Manunda

Queensland Police have charged a 16-year-old Manoora boy with manslaughter after a 48-year-old Manoora man was allegedly struck and killed by a vehicle in Manunda on Saturday, April 1.

Police will allege around 7:45pm, the 16-year-old chased the 48-year-old onto the intersection of Alfred Street and Mayers Street before he pushed and assaulted the 48-year-old on the roadway.

It will be further alleged the 48-year-old man was left on the roadway before he was struck by a vehicle travelling along the road a short time later.

Emergency services arrived a short time later, and the 48-year-old man was declared deceased at the scene.

It will be alleged the 16-year-old boy and 48-year-old man were known to each other.

Cairns Detectives yesterday arrested and charged the 16-year-old Manoora boy with manslaughter.

His bail was refused, and he is due to face Cairns Childrens Court.

Investigations are ongoing.
