Locals are invited to join in a celebration of Australia's First Nations People next week to mark National Reconciliation Week 2022.
A Reconciliation March will be held from Town Square to Sturt Park at 11.30am on May 27, followed by a free sausage sizzle and a 'Sea Of Hands' from 12.30pm.
The Sea of Hands is a prominent symbol used to support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, in which hundreds of cardboard hands are planted in the ground with a positive message.
The final result is a powerful 'Sea of Hands' representing a united community in solidarity with First Nations People.
National Reconciliation Week runs from May 27 to June 3, and this year's theme is "Be Brave. Make Change."
The theme is a challenge to all Australians — individuals, families, communities, organisations and government — to Be Brave and tackle the unfinished business of reconciliation so we can Make Change for the benefit of all Australians.
Council's General Manager, Jay Nankivell, encouraged locals from all backgrounds to come along.
"This is a great chance for people from all walks to life to enjoy a great day in support of our Aboriginal community" he said.
"Reconciliation Week is the ideal time for us all to consider our shared histories, cultures, and achievements, and to think about how each of us can contribute to furthering reconciliation efforts in Broken Hill."
