Margaret River Becomes Latest Stop On WA EV Network

  • WA EV Network expands to Margaret River with new fast charger
  • Site features a 150kW fast charger that can fully charge an EV in 20 minutes
  • Location marks 29th addition to the charging network

Margaret River has become the latest stop along the WA EV Network with the town now a part of what is set to be the world's longest EV (electric vehicle) charging network.

The site, located on Wallcliffe Road, features a 150kW fast charger that fully charge an EV in about 20 minutes alongside a back-up 75kW charger.

The charger will complete a key WA EV Network corridor connecting Margaret River to Jerramungup.

There are now 29 EV sites completed along the network with a 30th charger due to open in Bunbury next month.

The network is expected to be substantially completed mid-2024.

When complete, it will feature 49 EV charging sites, averaging less than 200 kilometres apart.

The network is being delivered by Synergy and Horizon Power. For more details, visit: https://synergy.net.au/evnetwork

As stated by Climate Action and Energy Minister Reece Whitby:

"I am thrilled to see the WA EV Network extend to Margaret River.

"The success of the network is reflected in a significant uptake of electric vehicle ownership throughout WA and will support EV drivers who wish to travel through and experience the best of our State's beautiful South West region."

As stated by Warren-Blackwood MLA Jane Kelsbie:

"I'm very excited Margaret River is the latest link in the WA EV Network, which is unlocking the State for EV drivers.

"The continued expansion of the network will help WA reach the State Government's target of net zero carbon emissions by 2050."
