We are excited to announce that Marie's research paper, co-authored with Dr. Eduard Fosch-Villaronga (Associate Professor at eLaw) and Prof. Burt Custers (Professor of Law and Data Science), has been accepted for presentation at the 16th International Conference on Social Robotics (ICSR 2024), taking place in Odense, Denmark, from October 23-26, 2024.
The conference, themed "Empowering Humanity: The Role of Social and Collaborative Robotics in Shaping Our Future", will gather leading experts to explore the integration of social robots into society. This area is tightly intertwined with Marie's ongoing research of social robots under ERC StG "SAFE AND SOUND" project (grant agreement 101076929).
This article, titled "Defining Socially Assistive Robots for the Law: Preliminary results of a systematic review", addresses the definitional labyrinth of Socially Assistive/Interactive Robots and Mobile Service Robots, to establish a baseline for understanding and regulating these robots. This article focuses primarily on the legal discrepancies between ISO 13482:2014 and the academic literature regarding these types of robots.
