The Minister for Aged Care, the Hon. Anika Wells MP, has established the Aged Care Taskforce as announced in the Federal Budget, which will deliver advice and recommendations to the Government and inform the future of aged care in Australia.
The Federation of Ethnic Communities' Councils of Australia (FECCA) congratulates Ms Mary Patetsos AM, FECCA's immediate past Chairperson, for her appointment to the Aged Care Taskforce.
"On behalf of the board, I congratulate Ms Patetsos on her appointment, which is a recognition of her significant service to the aged care sector," said Mr Carlo Carli, FECCA Chairperson.
"Ms Patetsos is a respected leader in the aged care sector and has tirelessly advocated for better and inclusive aged care policies and services for multicultural communities, and her achievements speak for themselves," said Mr Carli.
Ms Patetsos has served FECCA for eight years, initially serving as the Chair of the Healthy Aging Committee for her expertise in aged care policy and service delivery, and then as the Chairperson of FECCA.
Ageing and aged care is one of FECCA's key priorities. FECCA advocates on behalf of older people from culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) backgrounds, their families, and carers in order to ensure that their preferences and needs are included in the development of Australian Government ageing and aged care policies and programs.
