Get ready for an evening of candid conversation, delectable insights, and heartfelt honesty as Cessnock City Library – in partnership with Newcastle Writers Festival – proudly presents 'Your Time Starts Now: An Evening with Julie Goodwin'.

The beloved winner of MasterChef Australia's first season will share stories from her extraordinary life, in conversation with author Jane Tara at Performance Arts Culture Cessnock (PACC) from 6.30pm to 7.30pm on 5 April, 2025.

Fifteen years ago, Goodwin charmed the nation with her simple, honest cooking. Her career skyrocketed, leading to media appearances, hosting an award-winning breakfast radio show, publishing several cookbooks, writing a regular column for 'Australian Women's Weekly', and even testing her mettle on 'I'm a Celebrity, Get Me Out Of Here!'

But behind her public persona was a private battle with depression, anxiety, and addiction, which culminated in her admission to a mental health facility.

Goodwin's latest book, 'Your Time Starts Now', is a candid and moving memoir featuring delicious food, inspiring personal stories, humour, and raw honesty.

Library Services Coordinator Rose-marie Walters said the event at PACC is a unique chance to hear her powerful tale of resilience, recovery, and the crucial importance of self-care.

"We are thrilled to host Julie Goodwin as part of Newcastle Writers Festival," said Ms Walters.

"Julie's story is one of both incredible success and profound vulnerability. Her willingness to share her struggles, combined with her passion for food and life, makes her a truly inspiring figure. We believe this event will resonate deeply with our community."

Don't miss this opportunity to be inspired by Goodwin's story of hope, resilience, and the power of embracing one's own journey. Tickets cost $30 each and are available online here.
