- $50,000 of funding to assist shire of Nannup to create master plan
- Will help town's development as it transitions out of native timber industry
Minister for Regional Development Don Punch has announced $50,000 of funding to assist the Shire of Nannup to create a master plan, that will set the scene for the town's development over the next 20 years as it transitions out of the native timber industry.
The arts, recreation, tourism and liveability master plan will support efforts to diversify Nannup's industry base as well as attract and retain new residents.
The work will lay the foundations to position Nannup as a town of first choice with enviable work and lifestyle opportunities on offer to the community.
The development of the master plan will involve extensive public consultation with the Nannup community to drive the direction and outcomes of the plan.
As stated by Regional Development Minister Don Punch:
"Nannup makes an important contribution to the regional economy and the planning being undertaken represents an opportunity for Nannup to identify opportunities for growth.
"A focus will be identifying the future land and infrastructure development required to adequately cater for growth of the arts, recreation and tourism industries - as well as enhance liveability - in order to support opportunities for economic and community development.
"Nannup will build on its strengths to create a bright and vibrant future."

"Nannup is a wonderful place to live and is establishing itself as a creative hub and a tourism destination with fantastic recreation activities.
"This funding for a master plan builds on those efforts and supports the town's transition from the native logging industry.
