Councillor John Harvie has been elected as Mayor of Murray River Council, leading a new look Council for the 2024-2028 term.
Held at the first meeting of council this week, this is the first Mayoral election for the new council term following local government elections on September 14.
Returning Councillor Neil Gorey was elected to the role of Deputy Mayor.
Joining Councillors Harvie and Gorey are returning councillors Geoff Wise and Dennis Gleeson, along with Gen Campbell who served during a previous term. Gary Pappin, Kylie Berryman, Joy Allan and Bianca Hurn have all been elected as councillors for the first time.
Mayor Harvie said he is honoured to have been elected to the role and is looking forward to working with fellow councillors over the next four years.

Cr Harvie is a strong advocate for working with the community to address local issues.

Council have resolved that ordinary meetings will remain on the fourth Tuesday of the month at 1pm.
The next meeting of council will be on the 22 October at the Moama Council Chambers.
