Southern Grampians Shire Council re-elected Cr Bruach Colliton as Mayor and Cr David Robertson as Deputy Mayor for 2021/2022 at Wednesday's statutory meeting.
Cr Colliton, who was elected unopposed, said it was a privilege to be re-elected as Mayor for a second term and is looking forward to leading Council in the progression of key projects for the region.
"It's an honour and a privilege to be elected Mayor for the second year. We have a number of significant projects on the horizon which include the Melville Oval Master Plan, Cox Street Redevelopment, Pedrina Park shared facilities and Netball Courts, Penshurst Volcanic Discovery Centre, the Volcanic Plains Master Plan and the Hamilton Art Gallery that we are excited about progressing for the community," said Cr Colliton.
"Together with Council, we look forward to building an even stronger economy, more inclusive communities, and a more efficient Council. We will get back to basics and will aim to deliver key projects on time for the region to utilise and enjoy.
"I love where we live, from the top of Mt Sturgeon to the foot of the Nigretta Falls. From walking the Grange to exploring the Byaduk Caves. From shopping for artisan goods, to sipping lattes in our laneways. From the shearing shed to the dinner table - our backyard is majestic at every turn. It's the people that make the place and is what I consider the most valuable asset or point of difference for the Southern Grampians community.
Mayor Cr Colliton said he is looking forward to working with communities across the Southern Grampians.
"I have no doubt we have a very bright future ahead of us as we have so many capable people who are willing to step up to the challenge. I would like to specifically thank the Councillors for bestowing this honour upon me and look forward to working with Councillors, the community and staff during the year ahead," concluded Cr Colliton.
