Mayor Tanya Taylor along with four new and eight returning Councillors have been sworn in to Willoughby Council and at the first meeting of Council for the term, Councillor Angelo Rozos has been elected as Deputy Mayor of Willoughby.
Councillor Rozos has served in the role of Deputy Mayor previously when he was elected in August 2021 and has served as a Councillor for nine years.
Growing up in Willoughby has made Councillor Rozos a passionate advocate for the Middle Harbour Ward, leading upgrades at Willoughby Park and surrounding ovals. Rozos has also strongly supported developing open spaces, playgrounds and parks and is a prominent advocate for small businesses and local sporting groups. Councillor Rozos is now raising his young family in Willoughby, with his wife Megan.
Prior to the meeting's commencement, Mayor Tanya Taylor along with four new and eight returning Councillors took the Oath or Affirmation of Office, made at the beginning of the Council term, to undertake their civic duties in the best interests of the people of the Willoughby Local Government Area.
Mayor Tanya Taylor expressed her delight at the commencement of the new term of Council and congratulated Councillor Rozos' appointment.
"It was a privilege to see each of my fellow Councillors pledge their commitment to serve the people of Willoughby," said Mayor Taylor. "I would also like to congratulate Councillor Rozos on the appointment as Willoughby City Council's Deputy Mayor."
"I greatly look forward to working with my dedicated colleagues as well as our four new Councillors who I know are eager and ready to proudly serve the Willoughby community."
