Response from Shellharbour City Mayor Homer to media report regarding Beverley Whitfield Pool
Shellharbour City Council would like to address the inaccuracies in a media report, which aired on Friday, June 28 on WIN News, about the accessible ramp at Beverley Whitfield Pool.
The Council has not made a final decision on the provision of an internal accessible ramp and is continuing to investigate other options to best meet the needs of all members of our community and users of this facility.
At the June Council meeting, Council adopted the Delivery Plan and Operational Plan 2024-25, which included $190,000 for the provision of an accessible ramp at Beverley Whitfield Pool.
Structural Engineering advice that considers an alternative range of accessible ramp options on the north eastern sides of the pool are under review and will be reported to the Council when they are finalised and costed for a final decision.
Council may also seek funding through grants should they become available.
