Mayors Update

At our most recent Council Meeting was held on Tuesday 23 November 2021 in Queenstown. A LIVE Stream of the meeting was available to the community. The meeting was open to the public and we had one members of the public attend in the gallery.

There were no apologies for the meeting and no questions from the public during Public Question Time.

That Council approve Event funding of $2000.00 for the 2022 Mt Lyell Strahan Picnic.

That Council

1. Endorse the Mayor to approve Christmas Event Funding to the value of $1,000.00 to the successful community applicants for Rosebery and Strahan.

($500 Rosebery Neighbourhood House Community Christmas Lunch, $250 Strahan CWA Seniors Christmas Luncheons, $250 Strahan Christmas Decoration Committee Christmas Family night).

That Council:

316/21 Recommendation

That Council:

(a) Receive the report by the Planning Officer dated 10 November 2021 concerning development application DA 2021/46 and that Council approve the proposed change of use to Community Meeting and Entertainment at 9-11 Railway Reserve, Queenstown subject to the following conditions:

1. Endorsed plans

Consent is for the proposed change of use to Community Meeting and Entertainment substantially in accordance with endorsed documentation as prepared by the Applicant: Site Plan and Development Application Overview.

2. Hours of operation

Hours of operation must be within the hours of:

a. 7.00am to 9.00pm Monday to Saturday; and

b. 8.00am to 9.00pm Sunday and public holidays.

3. Vehicle parking

Users of the site are not to park within the narrow sections of Selby Street and Railway Reserve. Regulatory signage is to be placed in both Selby Street and Railway Reserve informing the users that parking is prohibited in these areas. The signage is to be placed in accordance with the requirements of Council's road authority at the developer's cost.

Where onsite parking is unavailable, users must first utilise the public carpark within Railway Reserve/Driffield Street before parking in the wider sections of Railway Reserve and Selby Street.

All areas used for vehicle access and parking within the title boundary must be constructed with a durable all-weather surface and finished with material to restrict abrasion from traffic and minimise entry of water to the pavement.

4. Commercial vehicle movements

Commercial vehicle movements and the unloading and loading of commercial vehicles must be within the hours of:

a. 7.00am to 9.00pm Monday to Saturday; and

b. 8.00am to 9.00pm Sunday and public holidays.

5. External lighting

External lighting must not operate within the hours of 7.00pm to 7.00am, excluding any security lighting; and

Security lighting must be baffled to ensure direct light does not extend into the adjoining property.

6. Stormwater

Stormwater discharge from the development and overland flows from the property are to be connected to the stormwater point within the property.

Formed surfaces are not to direct water to adjoining properties or the road and not create a nuisance.

No stormwater is to be discharged to the Queen River without further approvals from Council.
