MCIU charge man in Maribyrnong collision

Detectives from the Major Collision Investigation Unit have charged a man following a two-car collision in Maribyrnong earlier this week.

Emergency services were called after a white Toyota sedan collided with a BMW sedan on Birdwood Street, near the intersection of Merlyn Street, about 6.05pm on Tuesday, 14 December.

The driver of the BMW, a 34-year-old Sunshine North woman was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries but has since been released.

A 5-year-old girl, also in the same vehicle, remains in hospital in a critical but stable condition.

The driver of the Toyota was taken to hospital under police guard with serious injuries.

The a 26-year-old Flemington man was released earlier today and interviewed by police.

He has been charged with dangerous driving causing serious injury, reckless cause serious injury and recklessly casing injury.

He was bailed to appear at the Melbourne Magistrates Court on 15 March 2022
