Meadow Heights Man Charged in Illicit Firearms Probe

Detectives from the Illicit Firearms Squad charged a man yesterday as part of an investigation into alleged firearms manufacturing in Melbourne's north west suburbs.

A warrant was executed with the assistance of VIPER Taskforce at a residential address and workshop in Meadow Heights on Friday, 28 June.

During a search of the address, police located firearms parts, ammunition and drugs including methylamphetamine and 1,4-butanediol.

A 35-year-old Meadow Heights man was arrested and interviewed by police.

He was subsequently charged with possess parts to manufacture firearms, possess cartridge ammunition, possess methylamphetamine and possess 1,4-Butanediol.

The man was bailed to appear at Broadmeadows Magistrates' Court on 30 October.
