The Medibank Live Better van will be visiting Ararat Parkrun on September 7, bringing free fruit, health advice and several check-up options to our community, including via the high-tech SiSU Mini self-serve Health Station device.
The Live Better vans are Medibank's new way of bringing their services to regional areas. Set up like a store on wheels, the vans aim to educate communities in achieving better health for better lives. The vans offer a private and comfortable space for community members to talk about their health needs, as well as a self-serve, personalised health check option which takes 5 minutes or less with the SiSU Mini.
Using the SiSU Mini Health Station device, community members can collect info such as height, weight, BMI and body composition, after which the device will check their blood pressure, heart rate, risk of Australian Type 2 Diabetes, and Perceived Stress metric. All of these datapoints are then collected into an overall Lifestyle Score.
"The Medibank Live Better van's free visit will give our community agency over monitoring their general health," says Ararat Rural City Council Mayor Bob Sanders. "Medibank staff will be on-hand too, ready to identify health issues early, promote preventive care, and improve the overall well-being of our community."
