The Albanese Government is delivering on its commitment to residents of Western Sydney, as locals from today will have better access to fully bulk-billed urgent care, with a Medicare Urgent Care Clinic (UCC) opening at Our Medical Home in Jamisontown.
The clinic will be open extended hours, seven days a week, easing pressure on the Nepean Hospital. Highly trained doctors and nurses will provide care, with no need for an appointment.
Almost half of all presentations to New South Wales hospital emergency departments and 44 per cent of presentations at Nepean Hospital Emergency Department are for semi- and non-urgent conditions.
The Penrith Medicare UCC delivers on the Australian Government's commitment to make it easier for the community to get the urgent treatment they need while taking pressure off hospitals.
The Government is working closely with the Nepean Blue Mountains Primary Health Network to ensure the Penrith Medicare UCC compliments local health services and meets the needs of the community.
The Penrith clinic is one of the 14 Medicare UCCs being established across New South Wales, with clinics also being established in Albury, Batemans Bay, Blacktown, Campbelltown, Cessnock, Coffs Harbour, Gosford, Lismore, Randwick, Tamworth, Westmead, Wollongong and Wyong.
