Officers from the Major Crash Investigation Section are seeking information regarding a fatal crash that occurred approximately 60km north of Meekatharra on Monday, 25 July 2022.
About 10pm, a Kenworth prime mover towing three trailers was travelling south and a M.A.N prime mover was travelling north on the Great Northern Highway. It is believed as the two vehicles passed each other, part of a pump assembly attached to the Kenworth came loose, overhanging into the north bound lane. The object collided with the M.A.N prime mover, going through the windscreen and front cab.
The 56-year-old male driver of the M.A.N prime mover received catastrophic injuries and died at the scene. The 67-year-old male driver of the Kenworth vehicle was not injured.
