Meg Brown Wages Attack At Her Own Labor Colleagues

Tasmanian Government

Just a week after her first bite of the cherry, Shadow Minister for Electronic Road Signs, Meg Brown, was out again today criticising electronic traffic signs that, not only her own Labor colleague Jen Butler endorsed, but is also receiving 50-50 funding support from the Federal Labor Government.

Embarrassingly for Ms Brown she's criticising a project that the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Public Works – of which Ms Brown's colleague Jen Butler was a Member of – endorsed in June 2021. The Committee also endorsed the locations of the signs.

Has Ms Brown spoken to Ms Butler about the benefits of these signs that Ms Butler herself spoke about during the committee process?

The Tasmanian and Australian Governments are investing in information screens for motorists to be able to make informed decisions about their journey.

The signs are placed in specific locations to accommodate arterial roads joining or exiting the highway, and in some instances that might mean some signs are close together.

These locations have been selected by experts, who are better placed to make such decisions than politicians.

This is nothing more than another hit of negativity from Labor who are more interested in talking down improvements to our road network than giving motorists more information.
