Melbourne Cricket Education Academy Celebrates Graduating Class of 2024

The Melbourne Cricket Education Academy (MCEA), Cricket Victoria and RMIT are proud to celebrate the 24 students who have graduated from the 2024 program with a Dual Diploma in Business, Leadership & Management and will be recognised at a ceremony at the CitiPower Centre in St Kilda this evening.

The graduation ceremony will celebrate the hard work, dedication, and achievements of the graduates, marking a significant moment in their academic journey as they aspire to a career in the sports industry.

The event will be attended by MCEA, Cricket Victoria and RMIT representatives, as well as proud family members and supporters of the graduates.

First established in 2022, the MCEA provides an innovative educational pathway for students with a passion for sport, combining a tailored business curriculum with access to elite high-performance training facilities and real-life work experience at Cricket Victoria including with the Melbourne Stars and Melbourne Renegades W/BBL teams.

A number of program graduates have gone on to be employed at Cricket Victoria on a full-time basis.

"We are incredibly proud of the achievements of this year's graduating class," said Michael Beer, Melbourne Cricket Education Academy Manager.

"It has been a pleasure having them in our program and their graduation is s a testament to their hard work and commitment, both in the classroom, the nets and within the working environment."

"These students have displayed resilience, discipline, and determination throughout their time at the MCEA, and we are excited to see what they achieve in the future."

Talking about their own experience in the program, Moe Spencer said: "Being a student of the MCEA, alongside others with a shared love of cricket, meant we were able to create a team environment in the classroom, built on friendship and fun. This year, what I have experienced has not only strengthened my connections within the industry but also forged lifelong friendships."

A positive experience was echoed by fellow graduate Tara Brown, who said "The RMIT coursework, along with the opportunities provided by Cricket Victoria for volunteering and placement, has not only opened the doors for my future career, but also given me the skills needed to be ready to take that first step towards my goals."
