On Monday, Victoria's Minister for Creative Industries, Colin Brooks, came together with some of Victoria's film and television crew, sole traders and small businesses to celebrate the launch of Melbourne Screen Hub's new and larger location in Footscray.

Melbourne Screen Hub was first established in 2021 with $1.3m of funding support from the Victorian Government through VicScreen.

The concept of the original facility was the idea of a group of crew and small business owners who had a vision for a facility that could deliver better, more collaborative technical and creative services for Victorian's screen industry.

Melbourne Screen Hub provides a single location where small businesses, sole traders and crew can store equipment, materials and trucks as well as build a screen business community, share resources and information while also providing production office space for productions.

The new, larger site has been supported by an additional investment from VicScreen of $700,000, a $300,000 loan from Docklands Studios Melbourne and a lot of blood, sweat and tears from the Melbourne Screen Hub team.

Located in the heart of Footscray, and less than four kilometres from Docklands Studios Melbourne, the new site is more than double the size of the previous premises. At approximately 16,000sqm, it provides greater scope for business development and features more office, warehouse and storage space available to both local and international productions as well as permanent tenants.

Victorian Minister for Creative Industries, Minister Brooks said,

"Victoria's film and TV crews are the backbone of our vibrant screen industry, and we have some of the best in the world right here in Melbourne."

"The Allan Labor Government is proud to back Melbourne Screen Hub's move and expansion and we look forward to seeing how the new facility supports our growing screen industry.

Melbourne Screen Hub, General Manager, Ian Anderson said,

"We have already seen an influx of new tenants and demand is strong. We know this new, larger location for Melbourne Screen Hub is what the industry wants and needs and it's great to see the site bustling with activity and people."
