The Allan Labor Government has revealed designs to get rid of three dangerous level crossings across Melbourne's bayside, along with a new Mordialloc Station.
The new Mordialloc Station will feature all-abilities access, improved lighting, public spaces and landscaping - with entrances at both ends of the station making it easier to access.
Removing the level crossings at McDonald Street, Mordialloc and Station Street, Aspendale with two new rail bridges will deliver more reliable journeys for locals, with the boom gates currently down for a third of the morning peak.
A level crossing-free McDonald Street will also allow for the closure of the Bear Street level crossing - with the Frankston Line to be level crossing free by 2029 - changing the way people live, work and travel.
With site offices being set up now, early works in Mordialloc will start later this year and the level crossings will be gone for good by 2026.
Feedback from the community has informed the updated designs and has helped shape the new Mordialloc Station precinct to better reflect the community's close connection to the beach.

More than 26,000 vehicles travel through these dangerous and congested level crossings every day, where there have been 12 near misses and one fatality since 2016 and where the boom gates can be down for around 40 minutes of the morning peak.
Across Melbourne, 80 level crossings are now gone for good, with the Labor Government removing 110 by 2030, and making the Frankston, Cranbourne, Pakenham, Lilydale, Sunbury and Werribee lines level crossing free.
