The police Airwing detected an allegedly speeding motorist on the Melton Highway this morning.
Airwing officers saw the vehicle travelling at alleged speeds of up to 200km/h inbound along the Melton Highway about 1.30am.
Officers on the ground attempted to intercept the driver but the driver failed to stop and continued driving.
The Airwing directed police to an address on Exford Road and the driver, an 18-year-old Melton South man, was arrested without incident.
Police identified the man as a suspended learner driver.
His blue Subaru WRX sedan was impounded for 30 days at a cost of 1006.10 and he has been charged with conduct endangering life and numerous traffic offences.
He was bailed to appear at Sunshine Magistrates Court on 7 December.
