Families in Western Downs can now commemorate relatives who served in the Australian Armed Forces with a special, lasting tribute at the Myall Remembrance Park Services Memorial Wall.
Bronze plaques are available for purchase allowing families to memorialise the service and sacrifice of loved ones.
To ensure plaques are installed in time for this year's Anzac Day celebrations, applications must be placed by 14 February 2025.
Western Downs Regional Council Mayor Andrew Smith said the bronze plaques were a powerful symbol of remembrance of the brave men and women who served, and of the values that continue to define the Western Downs community.
"Council is proud to offer this opportunity for families in the Western Downs to honour their loved ones as a fitting tribute to those who gave so much for our nation," Mayor Smith said.
"ANZAC Day is a time for reflection, and these plaques offer a meaningful way to remember the courage and sacrifice of our local military personnel not just on special days like ANZAC Day or Remembrance Day.
"This new initiative allows families to commemorate the life and service of deceased veterans, preserving their legacy for future generations."
The plaques will feature the Australian military emblem and can be personalised with the veteran's name, rank and service details.
To apply for a bronze memorial plaque, applicants must be a direct relative of a deceased Australian Armed Forces service member and obtain a copy of the letter of approval to use the Service Badge from the Office of Australian War Graves.
