Two men have been charged with a series of serious offences after police were called to a Solomontown property today where a break-in was occurring, according to SA Police.
Patrols attending the property could hear a significant disturbance inside the address and the initial report suggested a firearm was involved.
The area of cordoned off to ensure public safety before a vehicle was seen leaving the address.
Police stopped the vehicle and two men – a 44-year-old and 26-year-old both from Port Pirie – were arrested.
They have been charged with an aggravated count of serious criminal trespass, theft, an aggravated count of assault, threatening life and unlawful detention.
Both men have been refused bail and will appear in the Port Pirie Magistrates Court later today.
Detectives from Pt Pirie CIB are currently investigating this matter, with one weapon – an axe – recovered at the scene. Enquiries are still being made to ascertain if a firearm was involved.
