100-foot crocodiles, mesmerising mermaids and out-of-this-world aliens are set to take over our beautiful blue skies this weekend for the 2024 Darwin Kite Festival!
Due to 2023's amazing response, this year's event is set to be bigger, better and more colourful, and will run over two exciting days.
Get ready for more kite gazing, kite flying and wholesome family fun on the Cullen Bay lawns, on Friday 20 and Saturday 21 September 2024.
Both days will feature special kite displays and family-friendly activities, including jumping castles, disco parties, face painting, roving entertainment, and live music.
The evenings of the festival will also see kite themed movies projected onto an outdoor screen, so the family can unwind after each exciting day.
There will also be plenty of delicacies to try, with additional food trucks trading to support the popular restaurants, cafés and ice-creameries already on offer at Cullen Bay.
Make sure you bring your own kites, or purchase one at the event to participate in the public kite-flying zone - which will double in size compared to last year!
Thousands of people are expected to attend this weekend and parking at Cullen Bay will be limited.
To avoid getting stuck in traffic, we suggest using one of the free transport options:
· The Kite Shuttle - park at one of the dedicated overflow parking zones and jump on the Kite Shuttle, which will take you and your family directly into the festival.
· The Kite Express - from the Darwin City bus interchange, catch the number 14 bus (renamed Kite Express) and be taken directly into the Festival.
