Families can now enjoy the new equipment at Merrett and Lodge Road Playgrounds these school holidays.
North Sydney Council consulted with the community in 2022 and 2023 to understand what they wanted out of the playground upgrades. The playgrounds were last given a refresh 20 years ago.
Delivered in partnership with the NSW Government through the Community Enabling Infrastructure Stream, the upgraded Merrett Playground contains enhanced play equipment, an improved accessible path from Waverton Park into the playground with additional landscaping.
Lodge Road Playground upgrades feature secure fencing, a new drinking fountain and updated play equipment catering to a range of ages and abilities. Landscaped garden and bench areas have also been given a refresh.
North Sydney Mayor Zoë Baker said:
"The new works on Merrett and Lodge Road Playgrounds deliver improved accessibility as well as inviting, safe, leafy play spaces for the community. Great open space is vital to community health and wellbeing. The new play equipment supports imagination and physical activity and just in time for the summer holidays".
